BEVERLY HILLS, January 26, 2011 – “The Kids Are All Right,” produced in association with Artist International and executive produced by Steven Saxton, CEO of AI’s parent company, Hollywood Studios International, received four Oscar® nominations today as nominations for the 83rd Academy Awards® were announced early this morning by Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences President Tom Sherak and 2009 Oscar® winner Mo’Nique.

“The Kids Are All Right” was nominated for Best Picture, Best Actress (Annette Bening), Best Actor in a Supporting Role (Mark Ruffalo) and Best Original Screenplay (Lisa Cholodenko and Stuart Blumberg).

The nominations come on the heals of a triumphant Golden Globe Awards ceremony where the film took home two Golden Globe Awards, including the top honor for Best Motion Picture – Comedy or Musical. Annette Bening, who was nominated along side her co-star Julianne Moore, took home the award for Best Performance by an Actress in a Motion Picture – Comedy of Musical.

The Academy Awards will be presented on Sunday, February 27, 2011, at the Kodak Theatre at Hollywood & Highland Center in Los Angeles, and televised live (in more than 200 countries worldwide) on ABC beginning at 5 p.m. PT/8 p.m. ET.

“This is an exciting day for HSI and everyone involved with the film,” said Saxton. “Awards season creates an electric atmosphere in Hollywood and having four Oscar nominations for the film is a great achievement and a great feeling this time of year.”

Joel Newton, Artist International’s Managing Director and a Co-Producer said: “Our excitement and deep appreciation for all the partners in this film has reached an apex. We’re thrilled to see the amazing talent involved in the film being recognized for what are truly some of the most remarkable achievements in film this year.”

The Academy Award® nominations for “The Kids Are All Right” further cements the film’s status as one of the most acclaimed films of the year and caps off an impressive list of awards and accolades garnered over the last several months. A commercial and critical success, the film has won the hearts of critics and audiences around the world.

In December 2010, “The Kids Are All Right,” released by Focus Features, picked up the most awards from the New York Film Critics Circle with a total of three, consisting of best screenplay, Bening’s lead performance and Mark Ruffalo’s supporting role. Prior to that, it took top honors at the Berlin International Film Festival and was nominated for a slew of Independent Spirit Awards. The picture received the second most Indie Spirit nominations, with a total of five, picking up nods for Best Feature, Best Director, Best Screenplay and Best Female lead for Bening and Best Supporting Male for Ruffalo.

From the moment “The Kids Are All Right” ignited a bidding war at last year’s Sundance Film Festival, it has been one of the most talked about and praised films of the last year. Dubbed “the breakout hit of the summer,” the comedy-drama about a lesbian couple whose world is forever changed after their son and daughter bring their biological sperm donor father into their life, grossed more than $20 million in U.S. box office revenue. It garnered near unanimous praise from critics and moviegoers alike, and with the recent release of the DVD, continues to tug at the heart strings of an ever-growing audience.
