LONE SURVIVOR – Limited Release in New York and Los Angeles on December 27th, 2013

Lone Survivor is based on the failed mission, “Operation Red Wings”, which tasked four members of SEAL Team 10 on June 28, 2005 to kill Taliban leader Ahmad Shah. They were quickly compromised and fell under attack with Marcus Luttrell being the only member to survive and evade capture.

Marcus Luttrell is a former United States Navy SEAL who received the Navy Cross for his actions in June 2005 facing Taliban fighters during Operation Red Wings. During his eight-year career in the United States Navy, Luttrell reached the rank of Petty Officer First Class. The following year, he returned to the U.S. and co-authored the New York Times bestseller Lone Survivor: The Eyewitness Account of Operation Redwing and the Lost Heroes of SEAL Team 10. His latest book, co-authored with James D. Hornfischer, Service: A Navy SEAL at War, was released in May 2012 by Little, Brown and Company.

Written and directed by Peter Berg (Battleship, Friday Night Lights) with Hollywood Studios CEO, Steven Saxton as an Executive Producer, Lone Survivor was a five year long project. Only needing 42 days to shoot with its $40 million budget, stars Mark Wahlberg (2 Guns, Ted, The Fighter) and Taylor Kitsch (Battleship, John Carter) worked at a discount, along with Peter Berg in order to expedite the films production. Along with Mark Wahlberg and Taylor Kitsch, the cast was further strengthened with performances from Emile Hirsch, Ben Foster, and Eric Bana.

Lone Survivor is set to have a limited release in New York and Los Angeles on December 27th, 2013 with a wide release on January 10th, 2014.
